I am sooo late in sharing my experience but better late then never
I was nervous yet excited to join Donna in the circle of security. Knowing other kaiako who have been on this learning journey I had heard such beauty and was inspired and desperate to see what it was all about. And the timing of this opportunity was so perfect, it came just when I really needed it as a broken teacher as well as a defeated parent.
Circle of security was such a heart opening experience for me. I came into it ready to learn and grow but had no idea how much this dance within circle of security would actually impact me as a parent and as a teacher. The circle of harmony helped me find harmony with my own children as well as how I can hold children in the ECE industry where they often are not and I am forever grateful. I feel I have unlocked this new part of me and it's a part I am so deeply proud of and more compassionate towards. I cant recommend this experience enough to anyone who is in education or are parents.
And THANK YOU Donna Stichbury for taking me on this journey and holding me through this experience of growth and giving me the best advice as a parent who was feeling completely defeated, HAVE COMPASSION for myself
Thank you Donna for facilitating such a powerful course, it really opens up so many opportunities for reflection and reassessment of the way we see our relationships with children and ourselves. The group were amazing to spend time with under your careful and considered guidance and your way of being alongside opened up the doorways for lots of moments which came from within (which we all know is so much more powerful and lasting). I would highly recommend this course to anyone who'd like to go deeper in their practice of being with children. In fact I cannot recommend it highly enough. And huge wishes to all of you I was lucky enough to share those Mondays with (mornings for me as I'm based in the UK), I hope you're journeys continue to be as fulfilling as this course.
Kia ora koutou, this was the first time for me and wasnt sure exactly what it was all about but 100% happy ive been introduced to the circle. I always looked forward to our Monday ngts as learnt so much, eye opening and all makes sense. It had me reflecting on my practice as a teacher (and mum) and i found just by making small changes or being aware of different things could have such an amazing positive outcome for our tamariki. I still have so much to learn and would definatley do again and recommend to anyone struggling with behavioural issues or just curious about connecting & understanding yourself an children and why we do/behave like we do.
Donna Stichbury you are just amazing and taught me alot about compassion and seeing, hearing and being present.
Everyone I shared this space with you are all amazing and i learnt so much of your sharing and journeys and knowledge aswell.
Opened up a whole new world for me, ngā mihi nui!

Donna you have spoken so often about self reg and Stuart Shanker so to have the opportunity to be part of your journey has been amazing.
It has definitely shown me how to come back into a state of calm when I'm feeling stressed and to see others (adults and children) through a different lens as I recognize different stressors.
I feel like I ride a wave at times, sometimes I'm sailing the calm sea and other times I'm riding a big storm, so to have more understanding from another angle of how to deal with it is great. To listen to you sharing and unpacking our different scenarios was a part that I really enjoyed.
I also love that it is just another way of looking. Pikler, circle of Security and now Stuart Shankar are all the same just share it differently.
Donna your knowledge blows my mind, keep growing and sharing so we can all bring a nicer way of BEing together
Hidden in Plain Sight has been an extraordinarily valuable course for myself. The background information of Stuart Shanker gives clear guidance on how to look through a different lens in order to support children in a way that is peaceful, loving and understanding. I wish this was taught during the degree.
My favourite part of this course however, was when Donna would unpack scenarios which then gave even more clarity as to why we may be feeling challenged by children in our care. I had many aha moments as Donna spoke and feel that this is where she has terrific knowledge and skill and is a great strength of hers.
I look forward to weaving with you again next year Donna.
Stress is EVERYWHERE. I think that we have got so used to it that we now call it normal. But its not helpful when a child is being blamed for something that is hidden in plain sight.
A course bring al=l the parts of the puzzle to gether.
